ICAO Regional Workshops on the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation

Today ICAO opened, in Asunción, Paraguay, a series of five Regional Workshops on the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), which will be held in all regions from 21 March to 12 April 2019. The Workshop in Paraguay will be followed by events in Finland, Republic of Korea, Egypt, and Senegal. The complete schedule for these Workshops, together with the full set of material presented, is publicly available here.

The initial stage of CORSIA capacity-building in 2018 was focused on the development of Emissions Monitoring Plans and the establishment of national regulatory frameworks. The objective of this year’s two-day Regional Workshops is to provide further information on the upcoming CORSIA implementation requirements, including the approval of Emissions Monitoring Plans by States by 30 April 2019. The objectives will also include reporting and verification of CO2 emissions from international aviation to support States in complying with the related provisions of the CORSIA SARPs in 2019 and by early 2020.

ICAO  would like to express appreciation to all the States that are hosting the Regional Workshops on CORSIA in 2019 and looks forward to continuous support, as more and more States join CORSIA.
